Abyssale
"Creative automation for agencies & teams" — "Generate creative content at scale in minutes. Transform one design into hundreds of on-brand assets across all marketing channels." Sells a multi-format design editor plus a Visual Generation API (images, video, GIF, HTML5, CMYK PDF), spreadsheet/CSV bulk generation, dynamic image URLs, approval workflow, and since 1 Sep 2026 a hosted MCP server. Homepage teases "Neptune Gen-1 Alpha", an in-development "design intelligence" model meant to power Format Generation and Dynamic Template APIs.
EUR 600k in Dec 2021 (Founders Future, Kima Ventures, angels) and EUR 1.5M in Dec 2023 (Aglae Ventures, Founders Future). Their own about page claims EUR 2.7M total, the gap most likely Bpifrance non-dilutive. Estimated revenue ~USD 1.2M (Latka, unconfirmed, Jun 2025). Abyssale SAS files accounts but keeps them confidential, so no verified revenue exists.
Who founded it
Sole registered dirigeant of Abyssale SAS. Product designer by background; founded the company out of his own resizing pain. Runs the founder LinkedIn channel and works the VivaTech booth.
Owns product and technical strategy since 2019. The Aug-Sep 2026 API rebuild and the MCP server land under him.
Who runs it
The shape of the org tells you the motion. Read the titles, not the headcount.
Posted the 8 Sep 2026 demo of an agentic model taking full control of Abyssale and producing 250 visuals; teased their MCP server as the next step.
Who they're hiring
Current staff show the motion they have. Open roles show the one they are buying. Two sources: LinkedIn job listings, and their own we-are-hiring posts, which for smaller teams are often the only public trace.
How they relate to us
The closest thing to Brushless's product surface that exists in Europe — and the clearest evidence that template-based creative automation, sold as seats plus credits, tops out. Six years old, ~EUR 2.1M of equity (last round Dec 2023), 6-9 salaried staff per INSEE, and an estimated ~USD 1.2M revenue (Latka, unconfirmed). Organic traffic peaked at ~3.5k/mo in Jun 2025 and has fallen ~60% to ~1.0-1.4k/mo through 2026; no new public reviews since Jun 2025; no open roles. Yet they are shipping hard: the whole REST API was rebuilt Aug 2026 (unified errors, rate limits, signed webhooks, JSON design import) and an OAuth MCP server shipped 1 Sep 2026 for Claude Code, Claude.ai, ChatGPT/Codex and Cursor. Their own team is publicly demoing an agent driving the whole platform end-to-end. So the agentic gap we assume is closing from their side. Where they still cannot follow us: everything is template-first — a human builds the master template in their editor, and the machine fills slots. They do not recompose a layout for a new frame, they do not sell a verified per-outcome unit, and they price per seat, which punishes exactly the burst adaptation volume our ICP has. Attack on outcome pricing, recomposition and the verified receipt; do not attack on API breadth, where they are ahead.
Framed as technology that 'understands design context, maintains creative intent, and eliminates repetitive format adaptation work', to power a Format Generation API and a Dynamic Template API. Still explicitly in training. This is them aiming directly at recomposition, which is the part of adaptation their template engine cannot do today.

Full change log
Everything we have logged, newest first.
Zero LinkedIn job listings on 10 Sep 2026. Nine employees at the Dec 2023 round, 11 per Latka in Jul 2025, 13 LinkedIn associated members now, INSEE salaried band 6-9. The Dec 2023 raise was explicitly to expand the team.
sourceCapterra 4.8/5 across 38 reviews with the most recent dated Jun 2025; G2 4.6/5 across 22; Trustpilot 4.3/5 across 24. Recurring complaints: price, thin template library, unpolished UI, and a 30-60 minute learning curve. Fifteen months without a new public review at this size usually means net-new logo flow has slowed.
sourceAhrefs monthly organic traffic: 3,510 (Jun 2025) peak, 2,085 (Mar 2026), then a cliff to 1,221 (Apr 2026) and 941-1,439 through Sep 2026. 260 organic keywords, 93 in positions 1-3, DR 67 on 1,248 live referring domains. The traffic that remains is largely non-buyer: the single biggest keyword is Indonesian ('ai pembuat gambar', 196 visits/mo) into a /best-ai-image-generator post, plus a Spanish AI-image query and 'ffmpeg'. Commercial-intent terms rank badly: 'creative automation' sits at position 8, 'ai banner design' at 14.
source14 /alternatives-to/<competitor> pages (Creatopy, Bannerbear, Creatomate, Canva, Figma, Celtra, Bannerflow, Chili Publish, AdCreative and more), five integration pages (Zapier, Make, Airtable, n8n) plus Figma and Photoshop plugins, an affiliate programme, and VivaTech, where the CEO reported 30+ pre-booked meetings and 100+ leads over two days in Jun 2026. Product Hunt was a 2019-2020 channel and is dead. Paid search is negligible (7 paid keywords).
sourceStart 12 (150 generation + 300 AI credits), Pro 36 (450/900, adds video/GIF, spreadsheet + dynamic image URL, approvals, API and no-code integrations), Suite 60 (750/1500, adds HTML5, ad-network compliance checks, public quick-generation links, CMYK print PDF), Enterprise on quote. 14-day trial, no card. API access is gated behind the 36/seat tier. The unit sold is a seat and a credit, never a finished adaptation - so a burst of 200 adaptations in one week costs the same as a quiet month, and nobody is on the hook for whether the output is correct.

sourceThe alumni pass surfaced Edouard Ramspacher (late co-founder & Head of Sales), Thomas Boussion (Head of Growth), Virgile Donadieu (Growth Marketing Manager, now Lead Growth at Taplio/TweetHunter), Leo Guitton (Growth Marketer, now co-founder at Grof), Emma Francillette (AE, 10 months), Pierre Clain (BD/Sales, 6 months), Jeanne David (growth trainee) and Florian Lonqueu-Brochard (founding software engineer, now founding engineer at Poppins). Sales and growth is the function that keeps turning over, which fits a company whose product works and whose distribution does not. These are the warmest sources on the category we have found so far.
sourceSince roughly mid-2025 the CEO has posted a monthly 'here is what shipped' roundup, deliberately, after deciding to 'take our changelogs seriously again'. They land 20-45 reactions each, several times the company page. The series stops after 20 May 2026 (eyedropper), with only the VivaTech run in June and then silence until the 7 Sep agent demo. The two months they spent rebuilding the API are exactly the two months they stopped publishing.

source17 Aug: unified error envelope, per-workspace rate limits, versioned responses, design-import alpha, workspace templates. 21 Aug: HMAC-SHA256 signed webhooks with secret rotation. 31 Aug: strict animation keyframe validation (breaking). 2 Sep: GET /credits. Node.js and Python SDKs plus an OpenAPI spec are now first-class on the site. A five-person engineering team shipping platform-grade API work is not a company winding down.
sourcemcp.abyssale.com/mcp, streamable HTTP, stateless, OAuth via Auth0, with pre-registered clients for Claude Code CLI, Claude.ai, ChatGPT/Codex and Cursor. Tools cover workspace identity, design/project/font discovery, single and async multi-format generation (banners, video, multi-page PDF) and JSON design import. The docs also carry a 'Skills' section. This is the clearest signal yet that the agentic layer we treat as our differentiator is being built by the incumbent template vendors.
sourceStated in a 17 Jun 2026 LinkedIn post alongside the Netflix / BackMarket / Leroy Merlin logo wall. Squares with a ~USD 1.2M revenue estimate at USD 12-60 per seat: a few hundred accounts, mostly small, with a handful of enterprise logos on top. It is a self-report with no audit behind it.
sourceNative n8n node shipped Jan 2026 (listed on n8n Dec 2025). In Feb 2026 Dr. FIRAS, a large French automation creator, recruited 500 beta testers for a course called 'Abyssale x n8n: creer une machine de contenu automatisee (2026)'. That single post drew 448 reactions and 598 comments, roughly 60x anything Abyssale's own page produces. Influencer-led no-code training is quietly their highest-reach channel and it costs them nothing.
